Pool Pavilion

A landscape rift

Lake George, NY

Conceived as a rift in the landscape, Pool Pavilion is less a building than a landform. An elongated span of grass, stone, and glass, this recreational structure serves as a central gathering place, connecting the previously disparate and isolated family and guest houses, uniting the physical and programmatic elements of the site. Stretched, carved, and folded, the threading of exterior and interior spaces through the pavilion creates a cohesive layering that reveals perceptual connections between forest, field, and water.
