GLUCK+

House (s) in the Mountains

One exposed, one hidden

Aspen, CO

Nestled in a deep narrow valley in the Rocky Mountains, Bar House and House in the Mountains are two separate buildings that integrate into and accentuate their rugged environment. Bar House, a large, 5,750-square-foot family house, stands perpendicular to the valley, offering dramatic views in every direction. Subtly integrated into the landscape, House in the Mountains is a two-bedroom, 2,850-square-foot residence that preserves the valley’s vistas while incorporating solar energy as a compositional element on one of its façades. Together, both houses form a cohesive, environmentally sensitiv ecampus along an extended courtyard.
