Harlem RBI (now DREAM)

More than a ball field

New York, NY

DREAM is a non-profit organization that offers underserved youth the opportunity to play, learn, and grow. To expand their program, their need was clear: a baseball field. Not a fancy stadium, not a complex landscape intervention, just a ball field that didn’t flood (and a couple of small offices from which to run their afterschool programs.) With a very limited budget, the final project includes a field that drains as well as a professional one, seating for neighbors to watch the games, a clubhouse, an old-school scoreboard, a playground, and a memorial garden.
