Situated within Newark’s Four Corners Historic District, 193 Market delivers 241 apartments while honoring the historic Paramount Theater. The project restores the theater’s original facade and inserts a referential cast stone and glass facade, repairing the historic street wall and providing access to over 50,000sf of retail in a two-story podium.

Fully setback from Market Street, a faceted sixteen-story residential tower—offering 20% affordable units—celebrates the surrounding historic buildings while expressing its new presence. The building steps and angles into the site’s deepest corners, optimizing interior environment and daylight while maintaining maximum distance to neighboring buildings. The resulting form—composed of alternating narrow vertical bands of solid and glass—creates a rhythmic, textured expression.
